WE ARE NOT ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS AT THIS TIME. PLEASE CHECK BACK IN Winter 2024 FOR INFORMATION ON OUR 2025 Development & Communications INTERNSHIP.

DEVELOPMENT & COMMUNICATIONS INTERNSHIP

Founded in 2017, Oyster River Pages publishes voices that speak to what it means to be alive in this world. We look for language and stories and images that move us out of ourselves and into other spaces as we seek to publish those who bring balance and diversity to historical institutions of power. Over the years, ORP has grown tremendously publishing hundreds of contributors, launching a successful internship program, and the Emerging Voices initiative that offers support to emerging writers. With our newly issued nonprofit status, ORP seeks to build upon our achievements to date by professionalizing our operations in order to advance our mission.

In 2024, ORP seeks a motivated and responsible individual who is detail-oriented, creative, and possesses excellent communication skills to serve as ORP’s Development & Communications Intern. The Development & Communications Intern will support the growth of ORP’s fundraising efforts with an emphasis on discovering grant opportunities as well as helping ORP manage its social media channels and promotion of contributors. Preference will be given to applicants with relevant training (or experience) who are passionate about the transformative power of the creative arts to heal, connect, and spark social change. Please note that this position is fully remote.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Support grant research and applications in conjunction with ORP’s Board of Directors to meet deadlines and requirements.

  • Research and identification of prospective funding sources from foundations and other grantmaking agencies, with an emphasis on those that support literary arts organizations.

  • Assist with the preparation and writing of documents for submission, including proofreading, editing, submitting to the funding source, and follow-up.

  • Manage ORP’s social media (Facebook, Instagram, X, LinkedIn) to promote ORP’s community of writers and artists, as well as engage online with the wider literary arts community.

  • Lead the promotion of ORP’s community of writers and artists by managing the Contributor Showcase and supporting ORP’s overall online communications efforts.

  • Strong attention to detail, outstanding organizational skills, and multi-tasking ability

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and analytical abilities

  • Self-motivated, flexible, and energetic with a capacity for independent and team work

  • Commitment to empowering new voices in literary arts, especially from underrepresented groups (Brown and Black voices, Queer voices, voices that are decentered and marginalized)

  • Knowledge of MacOS and Microsoft Office Suite

  • Nonprofit and fundraising experience a plus
