Get Out of Your Head

Justice Igundor

Small hands tug open the back of a man's skull as a din face peers through the shadows.

As a conceptual storyteller, inspiration comes from personal memories of my childhood where being the only child showed me there's value in dreaming without limitation. Growing up without siblings while having a Nigerian background is known to be taboo, but ultimately I found the beauty in being alone which in turn developed my creative process. Afro-surrealism is a backdrop for my concepts to enable the unconscious mind to express itself. As a result of using my imagination, my work reminds others that thinking outside the box enhances the human experience, highlighting how language brings people together and builds a community, especially for people of color.
